THE DIS Podcast, finding out who they were, before they went missing.
Finding a new Formula. I am definitely learning my way while producing the first few episodes of THE DIS.
As the podcast also serves as a workshop about the person who is missing, here is a snippet of Jeremy Shirley’s final moments before his disappearance. The details leading to the writing and production of this story were collected from eyewitnesses, family members, and police accounts. The DIS is a different kind of podcast. This is a podcast that must, without fail, bring value to the stakeholders involved in each case, or it will fail. It is the bare minimum requirement to be able to be a part of the lives of friends and families who have had loved ones go missing.
Episode 7 Preview | Jill Behrman
I was in high school when Jill, who was a junior when I was a freshman at Bloomington High School South, disappeared. I think I may have met her once or twice briefly. It was exciting to know a few upperclassmen in high school. It made me feel cool, valued in some weird way. A few years passed, and I became an upperclassman, while Jill had gone on to graduate and was attending Indiana University (IU).
She left her home on the southeastern side of Bloomington, Indiana, at 9:00 a.m. on May 31st, riding her bicycle. She had made this commute many times before—going to her job at the Student Recreation and Sport Center (SRSC) on Indiana University's campus—and that early summer morning was no different.
She had an entire day planned. She would work at the SRSC and then meet her grandparents and father for a late lunch.
But she never made it...
And the saga continues to this day—what really happened to the college sophomore remains unresolved.
But THE DIS isn't here to define the crime or solve it. The podcast's mission is to tell the story of who Jill was before her name appeared on the missing persons poster—or in this case, the billboard.
THE DIS: EP 1
On November 2, 2023, Jeremy was last seen at his residence on Elm Street in Bishop, California. He had recently expressed concerns about his safety and mentioned wanting to go into hiding, after which he turned off all his electronic devices. At the time, he was wearing a gray shirt, black pants, and a black jacket, and was carrying a Mercedes backpack.
Episode 1, about the disappearance of Jeremy Shirley, is still in production. We will post snippets of the episode below.

A new kind of Podcast
I have been wanting to enter the podcast creator space for a while. Now, I can do so comfortably with a project that fits my lifestyle. I love true crime, but I am not an internet crime sleuth. I am a storyteller through screenplays and film.
The Dis is an investigative podcast that aims to deliver a specific outcome at the end of each episode: a screenplay, about a true story—a disappearance. Each episode will be accompanied by a screenplay project written based on the true events of the disappearance.
This podcast aims to go further than most screenplay adaptations, attempting to tie up as many loose ends as possible by conducting direct interviews. I will share all the truths I can about the project and ask for your help as the audience to determine the unknowns of each case.
